0.3 W/m2 – What is 0.3 tanning?
This is now the EU standard for tanning and complies with British consumer safety regulations. All beds in UK must comply with this level of output and local trading standards officers are checking salons with light meters. In simple terms it is the level of tanning power of a sunbed lamp and a 0.3 tanning session delivers the same tanning effect as the mid-day Mediterranean summer sun, but without the risk of burning. Your tan will be deeper, longer lasting. It will be kinder to your skin and avoid over exposure or burning. All our commercial sun bed lamps are 0.3 W/m2 compliant to ensure maximum tanning capability and to meet with all UK and EU regulations. 0.3 W/m2 is the amount of UV exposure that the EU’s Scientific Committee on Consumer Products (SCCP) set as the limit for effective irradiance. This limit was then added to the European and British standards relevant for sunbeds under BS EN 60335-2-27:2010. A sun bed with a UV output above this level is deemed as ‘unsafe’.
Are your sunbeds compliant with new Legislation?
Make sure your beds are ALL 0.3 Compliant to avoid legal action and potential closure!!! Any UV tanning equipment emitting irradiance above 0.3w/m2 would be deemed unsafe, and therefore in breach of Electrical Equipment Safety Regulations. Local trading standards will take action against you. Call us for a service and check up on your sunbeds tanning power.
